What is the classification of furnished tourist accommodation ?
The classification of furnished tourist accommodation, like the classification of other tourist accommodation, aims to indicate to the customer a level of comfort and service.
The classification has 5 categories ranging from 1 to 5 stars, it is voluntary and is valid for 5 years.
The classification grid contains 133 criteria divided into 3 main chapters:
- Equipment
- Customer Services
- Accessibility and sustainable development
Why get your property classified ?
Classification isn't obligatory but offers many advantages:
- More attractive taxation (MICRO-BIC Allowances) : 50% on your rental income is tax free with an annual revenue cap of €77,700 for CLASSIFIED properties. Instead of 30% for non-classified properties with an annual revenue cap of €15,000.
- You also have the possibility, under certain conditions, of being exempt from the CFE tax.
- Reduction in Social Contributions : Owners of classified tourist accommodations can benefit from a significantly reduced rate on rental income exceeding €23,000, compared to non-classified properties.
- A reduced tourist tax (Taxe de séjour) for classified properties.
- A guarantee of the quality of the accommodation for customers nationally and internationally.
- A voluntary classification valid for 5 years.
- Free membership to the National Holiday Voucher scheme (ANCV) in order to facilitate the payment of rentals.
- Commercial advantages: display your stars, accept Holiday Vouchers and be promoted by Tourist Offices

- Complaint form: The owner has the possibility to contest the classification proposal by completing and returning this form to HUINSPECT within 15 days, after this period and in the absence of refusal, the classification will be registered for a period of 5 years.
- DECLARATION OF YOUR FURNISHED TOURIST ACCOMMODATION AT THE TOWN HALL: Declaration of your seasonal rental with this form Cerfa n° 14004-04
- DECLARATION ONCE CLASSIFIED : Inform the town hall of the classification obtained using this form Cerfa n° 11819-03
- Declaration to the Company Register Office : (CERFA P0i form)
- Auto diagnosis: It allows the furnished owner or his/her representative to determine the classification category to request for the inspection visit. It lists in table form the mandatory criteria of the classification by 1-5* levels. This document also allows the classification inspector to prepare for the inspection visit. To be completed and sent with the classification order form, the Service Offer Contract and payment to HUINSPECT.
